Joe & Amy Fail

July was a much more eventful month than we are used to. I was glad that I was able to attend Grandma's funeral. She is such an amazing woman and I am so greatful to her for being such a wonderful Grandmother. I think we have all been blessed to have her in our lives. It was also fun to see a lot of the Romney extended family.
Joe is happy to have a few weeks off from school. He is presently trying to find a new job up here until December. He is doing collections now; which has not been very enjoyable to him.
We had fun last weekend camping with the family! We haven't gone for quite awhile. I think Xander enjoyed it the most! He was so dirty!! He is truly an "outdoor" dog at heart. We enjoyed the beautiful scenery while hiking, the great food, and of course the great company.

Grandma Cora's Funeral

Grandpa & Grandma Romney

Grandpa:
Wow...what a fast month and eventful month. Cora's (Grandma Cora) death took us to Phoenix sooner than we anticipated. It was a wonderful experience to see how everyone come together to celebrate her life. I was humbled by how many of the grandchildren from both sides of the family came. It showed to me just how much she meant to all of us. She was a great example of love and acceptance. To the Romney grandchildren, she is the only grandmother they new. I was touched at Jeff Kober's remarks at the funeral learning about how close the Kober's and Romney's were before my Dad married Cora. Jeff mentioned that he noticed how sad that his parents felt coming home from a funeral of a close friend, my mother. Also when he was preparing for his mission, at the temple Jeff's father introduced him to my father who was his temple escort. Jeff realized later that he just met his future step father. I could go on, but I just want to say how grateful I am for my family heritage. What an example of devotion and service. I had the privilege of having to wonderful mother's in my life. Both of whom I will remember for ever.
Love, DAD
Grandma:
The summer is flying by so quickly—Monday, the 11th, school starts again at the prison. July will always be remembered as the month we lost Grandma Cora, but Dad will write about that.
We spent the Fourth of July in Cedar City. We drove down that morning and caught the afternoon matinee of “Fiddler On the Roof,” the best performance of that I have ever seen. Then that night we saw “Othello.” It was excellent. We drove home Saturday morning and met Norman and Marie that evening for dinner and a play at Hale Theater—“The Curious Savage.” We saw it many years ago and it stands out in our minds as the funniest play we have ever seen and it didn’t disappoint us this time. Even Norman enjoyed it and he’s not a theater guy. They were in town for something with Marie’s family.
We think we have the Logan house sold but the buyer is an investor so he’s being very picky and technical about everything. We are presently waiting for Logan City to officially grandfather it as a legal duplex. Once that is done, which the realtor thinks will be no problem, we are to close within 48 hours. Thanks to Joe and Amy and their excellent care of the property, it has been a good deal for all of us. We just don’t dare keep it once they are gone.
Last weekend we enjoyed a very fun family campout organized by Amy. We went to a beautiful place near Preston, Idaho. There was a beautiful creek that ran right by our camp ground (in fact we had to walk across a plank that spanned the creek in order to reach our camping area). We took the dogs along with Xander and all had a good time. You’ve never seen dirtier dogs!!! Just wish the North Carolina family could have been with us. We are certainly grateful for the progress out little Parker has made. We love you all! Mom and Dad, Grandma and Grandpa

Well, the month of July was fun for us, but sure flew by!! We had a fun 4th. We went to the ReAL soccer game, went swimming at our clubhouse, and went to a movie. I worked a few extra shifts so I was pretty busy with that. Chris has been working on our garage building shelves so it will be organized. It has taken awhile, but its hard when you work a lot and its summer and want play and do other things!! We have had a few barbeques with friends a family as well. Those are our favorite!! We really didn't do much for the 24th. Chris worked and I ran errands and arranged work off and booked a flight down to Arizona for Grandma Cora's funeral. I was glad I was able to go. It was a great service and she was such a great woman and example for all of her family. The funeral went well and I learned a lot about her in her yonger years that I never knew! And we played with the Dangerfields, of course. They are always a good time:) Chris stayed home to work and Amy and I flew down there together. This last weekend, we all ended up being able to go camping together at a place outside of Preston ID. We had a really good time!! We hiked up to some springs and played cards and ate great food!! Im pretty sure the rest of you will post some pictures. I haven't charged my camera yet so I can't download the pics off it. Thanks to Joe and Amy for planning the camping trip and inviting us all. Next week we fly to Seattle to visit some friends and enjoy their annual brew fest BBQ and sleeping out in their yard overnight!! We went last year and had a blast! We hope to go waterskiing and hiking also. We will tell you all about it in next months newsletter!Love- Chris and Mindy

Jason & Family

The summer seems like it has flown by, even though we really haven’t done much. Our challenge lately is finding a “new normal” for us. Many of the things we used to do as a family or would like to do are just too hard or complicated now, so we have just spent most of the summer at home reading books, watching movies, playing games and playing the Wii. We did try to go camping a few weeks ago, but that didn’t work out very well with Parker and all of his special needs--but at least we tried!!! We are planning some day trips next week to some of the sights close to home, so that should be fun and hopefully not too complicated! Parker is still making good progress. He now weighs 18 pounds 10.9 ounces. We are working on getting him stronger by doing simple exercises everyday and he will be starting weekly physical therapy soon. We are so grateful that he is doing well. Kelsey and Connor are both looking forward to school and pre-school starting in the next couple of weeks and Jen is looking forward to it too--maybe she will get a little bit of a break and maybe there will be a little less fighting... Kelsey is also looking forward to being baptized next month--we can’t believe she will be eight already! Connor continues to entertain us with his unique sense of humor and view of the world around him--he’s a lot of fun. Jason has kept pretty busy this summer working on his grant from the National Science Foundation and fall term at NCSA is right around the corner. Jen is just trying to keep everyone going and maintain her sanity...
